School Net Advanced Science

If you have already worked through the Basic Science section or need more scientific material then these Advanced Science pages are where you need to be. Though the topics are the same as the Basic Science the information they cover is explored in greater detail, and contains more scientific terms.

Acid Rain - Natural as well as human activities are responsible for the production of the chemical pollution that contributes towards the acid rain that can cause devastating damage to soil and structures.
Freshwater Pollution - Because freshwater ecosystems are finely balanced, any alterations could lead to the emigration or death of the organisms, which are highly sensitive to environment changes such as pollution. Identifying pollutants and key environmental indicators is important to the protection of these habitats.
Greenhouse Effect - Our planet is kept warm by energy from the Sun which is trapped by the atmosphere. This energy passes through the atmosphere, heating the Earth's surface. Some energy is absorbed by the atmosphere - warming it up - whilst the rest escapes to space.
Hedgerows - Hedgerows are essentially man-made structures and aside from their obvious purpose they form part of an attractive and natural countryside, and provide a habitat for a wide range of plants and animals.
Nature's Calendar - Nature has a way of telling us what is happening throughout the natural year, and humans have been observing these clues since prehistory. Those interested in tracking these cyclic events study data from week to week, month to month and year to year to track climate changes.

If you can't find the science subject you are looking for you can search for it too.
