Welcome to the tour of Captain drilling platform.
You are about to step onto one of the newest and most sophisticated drilling platforms in The North Sea.

The Captain Platform sits in the Captain Field on the edge of the

Moray Firth 68 miles north of Aberdeen.
The Well Protector Platform (WPP), built in 1997, houses the accommodation block, the drilling rig and the tops of 27 wells. It:
  • stands in 100 metres of water in the Captain oil field
  • drills down to the oil reservoir nearly 1 km below
  • produces about 60,000 barrels of oil a day
  • produces up to 30 million SCF of gas per day
  • operates for 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
